Avoid paying a penalty - buy a valid ticket before your travel
All passengers require a valid ticket or Permit to Travel before boarding their train. Ensure that you have the entirety of your journey covered, otherwise you run the risk of facing a Penalty Fare.
The amount of a Penalty Fare is £20 or twice the full single fare applicable, whichever is the greater to the next station stop. Should you then choose to continue your journey, you’ll need to pay for the single fare to your destination station as well.
You could also face a penalty if you:
- Travel beyond the destination of your ticket
