Birmingham New Street is the largest of the three main railway stations at the heart of Britain’s second city.
Dating back to 1976, the station has been transformed in recent years to a major hub for both transport and shopping. Its redevelopment from 2010 to 2015 welcomed a wide range of high street retailers and restaurants, together with modern luxuries and facilities.
The improvements brought 15 new lifts and 36 new escalators to its 12 platforms, offering a high level of accessibility to passengers. Once considered something of an eyesore by the public, the redevelopment sought to fix this with the installation of a giant glass-roofed atrium which floods the station with natural light.
